Aaron Rodgers gives best reaction to panic of Jordan Love
At least one of us is staying calm during this experience.
In the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers neglected getting quarterback Aaron Rodgers a wide receiver. Instead, the team drafted Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.
Fans and analysts across the world have been calling the draft a failure for the Packers. Even former Packers quarterback Brett Favre commented on the situation, saying he thinks Rodgers will finish his career elsewhere.
In the height of all the madness, the one man that is remaining calls and that’s Rodgers.
The star quarterback put up a photo of himself in the mountains with a familiar phrase as the caption: “relax.”
Rodgers is under contract through 2023, so the pick is still puzzling. Trading up to nab Love is even more shocking. However, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers were never swayed. They wanted Love, which creates a little bit of quarterback controversy.
“They were adamant about getting their quarterback,” Rapoport said. “It’s not like, ‘Well, if one fell to them, they were gonna…’ No. The Packers wanted Jordan Love so much so they actually had deals late in the first round to move up with the Seahawks. That obviously ended up not being necessary because they moved up ahead of them and ended up taking Jordan Love. There was really no one else as far as I can tell who was going to come up for him. The Colts were rumored. From my understanding, the Colts never made any calls. This was the Packers making sure that whatever happened, they got their guy.”
To make matters worse, with two picks on Friday night, the Packers hoped that somewhere along the lines, the team would draft a wide receiver. Instead, the Packers drafted Boston College running back AJ Dillon and Cincinnati’s tight end Josiah Deguara.
Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman gave the best possible reaction on Twitter.
“Are the Packers trying to make Aaron Rodgers retire?”
For a team that was one game away from making the Super Bowl, we don’t see a lot of improvement here.
