Ever since New York Jets safety Jamal Adams became available, fans have been grasping at every possible connection of him landing in Dallas.
The Jets picked up Adam’s fifth-year option this week, but that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping that the Dallas Cowboys can make a trade. The rumor mill really churned with Adams posting his latest tweet, which references a Drake lyric from the song “Desires.”

in the offseason, according to Mike Fisher of CowboysSI.com, the franchise is a contender to make a trade for the New York Jets star safety.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, those rumors are confirmed.
“The Jets entertained offers for All-Pro safety Jamal Adams at last year’s trade deadline; might be a name to monitor again during draft week.”
According to Schefter, Adams will not be participating in OTAs.
“When the NFL’s voluntary virtual off-season program opens this month, Jets’ All-Pro safety Jamal Adams is not expected to participate, per league sources. The Jets have not expressed any official interest in extending Adams thus far in the off-season, per source.”
The Cowboys have been linked to New York Jets All-Pro safety Jamal Adams. According to Slater, this rumor for a blockbuster trade is unlikely.
“#Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says it’s unlikely the Cowboys would trade a pick for a veteran player at 17. Jamal Adams truthers, we shall see if this remains the case. As I reported Monday, a source informed me the safety just wasn’t top of mind right now.”
Landing a player like Adams would be huge for the team’s defense. However, the major downside would be moving multiple draft picks and signing Adams to a lucrative extension. Money is a major issue going forward, which is one main reason why safety Xavier Woods could be gone after this season.
